Brother Man questions

1. Some of the narrative techniques used by Roger Mais are foreshadowing, the use of different plots and flashbacks.

2. Roger Mais develops characterisation in the way he potrays Brother Man as the persona of Jesus Christ who is religious and only does good for the better of persons. He uses the characters to show different aspects of influence that can get into your way when you have faith in Jesus Christ.

3. The setting of the book Brother Man is in the Jamaican Ghetto.

4.Some of the themes used in this book are:
Betrayal
Violence
Religion
Greed

5.Some of the plots in the play such as the killing of Papacita this was shown via the amount of violence in the relationship between Papacita and Girlie this cause girlie to hold hatre and in the end kill Papacita. Another plot was the framing of Brother Man, the framing of Brother man showed that no matter how much good a person did humans can never be pleased especially in the case of Cordilia.

6. Foreshadowing is displayed in the book where Brother begins to tell Minette of his relationship with a Velta that got him into trouble and this led up to the event of cordilia framing him with the conterfeit money. The foreshadowing shows that Brother Man is much more comfortable with religion than women due to his experience.

7. Examples of Flashbacks in the book are:
Brother Man recounting his younger days to Minette
Minette's remembrance of Brother Man taking her off the streets

8. Religion plays a major role in the book in the form of Christainity, and obeah. Both religions are seen in the book as a sense of security for those who believe in them . For Christianity Brother Man is used in the form of a Rastafarian who is seen as a prophet to those around him who listen to his words of spirituality and belief in  faith. However Brother Ambo uses obeah which is seen as bad and thus it conflicts with the faith of christianity and as in the book poisons the minds of those who use it.
